Eastern Health says issues involving the availability of flu vaccines should not delay the province’s publicly-funded flu vaccination program.
Delays in the production and distribution of the vaccine could make it harder for some Canadians to get their flu shot.
The Public Health Agency of Canada co-ordinates the purchase and says 55 per cent of the total order is currently available for distribution. Eastern Health tells VOCM News that the federal government is working with the provinces and territories to minimize any possible delays.
Shipments began in mid-September and more than 90 per cent of the annual order for Newfoundland and Labrador is anticipated to be available by the end of October.
Flu clinics are expected to begin October 21st.
