The federal Conservatives rolled out more of their platform in the province over the weekend, focusing on the fishery and internet access.
Local candidates made numerous promises on behalf of leader, Andrew Scheer in both Holyrood and Trinity.
The Conservatives say to renew engagement and consultation to support fisheries, they will create advisory panels with fish harvesters, anglers, Indigenous groups and others to rebuild critical stocks.
Furthermore, the party promises to complete new recovery plans for all of Canada’s critical fisheries, repeal measures that bypass community consultations for marine protected areas and create a modern aquaculture act.
To maintain infrastructure and support communities, the Conservatives promise $250-million in additional support for small craft harbours.
Meanwhile, candidate for Bonavista – Burin – Trinity, Sharon Vokey says a Conservative government will make sure Canadians have access to high-speed internet by forcing internet data providers to connect the maximum number of Canadians to high-speed internet by redirecting existing rural broadband funding towards strategic priorities.
Vokey says they will also redefine the license areas for internet providers to ensure rural Canadians are not unfairly lumped in with urban centres.
Election day is October 21st.
