The provincial government will soon be offering rebates for those who have purchased heat pumps for their homes.
Minister of Municipal Affairs and Environment, Derrick Bragg announced the Heat Pump Rebate Pilot Program will begin accepting applications on October 15.
The one-year, $1-million heat pump pilot program is meant to help homeowners increase the energy efficiency of their homes.
Through the program, up to 1,000 homeowners can each receive a grant of $1,000 towards the purchase and installation of an eligible heat pump.
The applicant must be a homeowner, have an annual family income of $150,000 or less, and the heat pump must be purchased and installed by certified installers on or after October 15, 2019.
The program is fully funded by the provincial government, and Bragg says through initiatives like this, they are working to move the province into a more environmentally and economically sustainable future.
