“Slow down, you’re going to kill somebody.”
That was the response of singer Chris Andrews, of Shanneyganock fame, to witnessing yet another person driving at dangerous speeds in the town of Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove.
The singer took to Facebook to share his experience with the driver yesterday morning.
Andrews says he was driving on Marine Lab Road when a Red Jetta Station Wagon came up behind him, driving at what he calls an “enormous rate of speed” and passed him on a blind section of road. He says he got the driver’s license plate number and reported him to police.
However, Andrews says this is not an isolated occurrence.
He calls speeding an “epidemic” in the community. He says something needs to be done about the issue.
Andrews says ideally he’d like to see a heavier police presence, but knows that’s not always possible. He notes that the town council is well aware of the problem, and has been doing a great job in trying to curb it but there is only so much you can do.
Andrews says his road is especially bad.
He says it’s like a racetrack. He says people want to be able to enjoy the community but the speeders are making it too dangerous to do that.
