The Gathering Place is hosting its annual Thanksgiving Dinner on Wednesday, something that wouldn’t be possible without help from the community.
Some 350 people will enjoy turkey dinner at The Gathering Place. On any given day, they need at least 25 volunteers in the dining room, and will need many more on Wednesday.
Executive Director, Joanne Thompson says they have a very kind donor, who over the last number of years has stepped up to cover all of the expenses for the dinner.
She says what’s really lovely is that people are so kind. In this case, the donor brings some of their own staff and volunteers on top of those at The Gathering Place.
It speaks to how the community and people come together to make sure there is always enough to get the meal on the table, says Thompson.
On Saturday, over 220 people were served a meal at the Gathering Place.
