The Conservative candidate in St. John’s East says his party supports the province’s oil and gas sector.
Joedy Wall says Bill C-69 has taken the industry in the “wrong direction” by creating uncertainty and delays in the environmental assessment process.
He says the Conservatives will repeal Bill C-69, respect provincial jurisdiction in the offshore, and ensure that the principle of joint management of the offshore is strengthened.
In the meantime, Noia has written each of the federal parties seeking their policies on issues related to the offshore oil and gas industry.
CEO Charlene Johnson told VOCM Morning Show co-host Fred Hutton they’ve heard from a few of the parties, but not all.
She says they have yet to hear from the Liberals, the Green Party and People’s Party of Canada. She says time is getting short but they still have some time to send out their responses when they get them.
