Winds are picking up on the southwest coast and tractor trailers are being advised to stay out of the Wreckhouse.
Winds from the East-southeast are at 60 km/h but gusting close to 90 km/h. They will continue to increase to 140 km/h tonight in the Wreckhouse. There is a wind warning out for the entire west coast, particularly coastal areas where gusts could hit 100 kmh.
Thousands of Maritimers have lost power as a slow-moving fall storm crawls through the region, bringing downpours and powerful gusts.
The winds in the Cabot Strait have disrupted ferry service between Newfoundland and Nova Scotia.
