A local television series is gaining global publicity.
Hudson and Rex, which has already aired 32 episodes filmed in St. John’s, has been acquired by multiple broadcasting companies in Europe and Africa.
Companies have acquired broadcasting licenses for the series in numerous countries including Germany, France, and the Netherlands. NBC Universal reportedly picked up the show for its markets in Eastern Europe and Africa. Negotiations continue for rights in Spain, the UK and Scandinavia.
The police action show about a detective and his sidekick—a German Shepherd named ‘Rex’—is set in this province, and earned 2.5-million viewers in its first season that premiered in March.
The series has been approved for a second season, which is currently being produced.
