Firefighters arrived to find a “fireball” just moments after receiving the call about a house fire in Shearstown last night.
Bay Roberts Fire Chief Rick Edmunds says it was hard to believe how fast the blast took hold.
The house was destroyed.
He says a drive-past this morning shows the four walls still standing which he calls amazing considering the fire that they encountered.
The house, a rental property, was being renovated at the time and there was no-one in the home at the time. There were no injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
