He was a familiar face in the community last season, and expect to see much the same out of Growlers forward, Todd Skirving this year.
Skirving is one of ten returning players on the Growlers roster this season, and whether or not he’s in the lineup, he wants to be an active member of the community.
The Kelly Cup Champ says he thought the whole team did a good job of getting out into the community, and enjoys doing it.
He says it’s just his way of helping the team in a different area and something he’s always done.
His parents always taught him to give back, and this year in their first team meeting, the team made a point of taking five minutes out of their day to make a difference in someone’s life.
Skirving says they’re trying to connect with people in different ways, and it’s important to the whole team to be active in the community.
When sun rays crown thy pine-clad hills,
And summer spreads her hand,
When silvern voices tune thy rills,
We love thee, smiling land. Our ode to Newfoundland

Watching the championship banner rise to the rafters was a special moment for Skirving, and he says he even got a little emotional.
Skirving says he was looking at Adam Pardy and almost shed a tear. It was exciting and nice to see the banner rise, especially for the new guys on the team to see what they want to achieve by the end of the year.
It closes one chapter, and with the new year, Skirving says they’re trying to look forward and do everything they can to capture another Kelly Cup.
The Growlers take on the Brampton Beast again tonight at Mile One Centre. Puck drop is 7:00 p.m.
