It has been dubbed as the toughest race in North America and it’s happening this morning in metro.
Cape to Cabot is a 20 kilometre road race that, as the name suggests, starts at Cape Spear and ends at Cabot Tower atop Signal Hill.
Race director Guy Beazley says the event is sold out every year and hundreds join in along the route to cheer on the runners.
The race attracts many different types of people of all ages.
A 92-year-old man is the oldest competitor but there is an 81-year-old woman who gives a good effort and has been by no means last in the pack he says.
Temporary road closures are in effect for the Cape to Cabot Race on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019 from 7:45 to 11 a.m.
