Host of Hometown Hockey, Ron MacLean says the gift of the show is Canadians seeing eachother and hearing their stories.
MacLean says Alan Doyle always said there was a bridge in Petty Harbour that he saw as a metaphor for what’s it like in the rest of North America.
He says stories are in the bone of Newfoundland, whether it its Michael Winter, Mark Ferguson or great authors like Ron Hynes and the legacy of music in the province, they get to showcase it.
They are grateful to share the stories, and MacLean believes that’s why Hometown Hockey succeeds.

MacLean says he loves any excuse to come to the “City of Legends” and says one of the great things about doing the show in Newfoundland is the “circular wind of information that blows around the province”.
MacLean says everyone shares their pride and culture of the province and Alan Doyle has already recorded several “whimsical” reflections on life on the Avalon Peninsula.
Rogers Hometown Hockey kicks-off at Memorial Stadium Dominion today and continues tomorrow.
