Foster homes are still needed across the province to ensure that no child or group of siblings who suddenly find themselves in care are left waiting for a place to stay.
October is Foster Families Month.
Executive Director of the Foster Families Association of Newfoundland and Labrador, Diane Molloy says there remains a dire need for foster homes in the province.
She says it is still challenging to find a foster home in some areas of the province. That means that some children may not be placed right away, or some siblings may have to be separated.
Potential foster families need to participate in an educational and assessment process, with supports available once they’re in the system.
