The President of the Canadian Foundation for Economic Education says social media has a big impact on the self image of young people, and their financial outlook.

Gary Rebboir says many Canadians, students and adults alike, feel uncertain about their financial health – and the Canadian Foundation for Economic Education has re-launched its Money and Youth program to help better educate young people.

Rebboir says one thing they find happening across the country is young people inflating their lives on the internet.

He says other young people see that and feel worse about themselves and a lot of it is related to financials with people spending money and going on vacations.

Rebboir says it’s a swirling world all around them of people trying to influence young people, and that it’s important to try and prepare young people to make good decisions.
