Canadians are heading to the polls today to choose the next government.
Seven seats are up for grabs in Newfoundland and Labrador, all of which are currently held by Liberal members.
The most interesting race to watch in this province is in St. John’s East where the NDP’s Jack Harris has returned to the political arena to challenge incumbent Liberal Nick Whalen. Joedy Wall is running for the Conservatives, and David Peters is running for the Green Party.
With a surge in popularity for the Bloc in Quebec, a province that traditionally has strong Liberal support, pundits agree the real battle will be waged in Ontario which represents 121 of the 338 seats in the House of Commons.
Nationally, the Liberals and Conservatives have been virtually neck and neck throughout the campaign, with the Liberals pulling out ahead slightly in most recent polling.
The NDP also saw a bump in the polls following the federal leaders’ debate.
