There is a brand-new skate park at the Kenmount Terrace Community Centre that was designed by skateboarders themselves, and it’s in memory of one of the designers, who never had the chance to see it.
Justin Tobin lost his battle with a rare form of cancer in January of 2017. He and a group of his friends designed the new skate park. Tobin loved life and continued to skateboard while battling his illness.
A memorial is built into the skate park to honour Justin, with the quote he lived by “Only Here for the Day”.
His mother, Yvonne Tobin says Justin’s legacy will live on forever.
She says everything happens for a reason, and his spirit will be out there with whoever is using the skate park. Yvonne says Justin was her hero, and an inspiration to so many.
Yvonne says to make the most out of everyday, just like Justin did.
She says we just have today, so make the best of that day, because you don’t know what tomorrow will bring.
