Volunteers who dedicate their time to finding and helping people who run into trouble in difficult conditions had a chance to hone their skills over the weekend.
Representatives from 16 Newfoundland and Labrador Search and Rescue Association teams from across the province converged on Terra Nova Resort and Golf Community for training.

The training sessions were held to help improve search and rescue skills and included helicopter rescue re-certification, navigation skills, first aid, GPS use, map and compass skills, search for evidence, fire lighting and team building.
Sergeant Danny Williams who is in charge of Search and Rescue with RCMP in Newfoundland and Labrador says the province is very lucky to have dedicated search and rescue volunteers.
