The largest school-based volleyball tournament in Canada is taking place this weekend in St. John’s.
VolleyFest is played by 180 school teams on 32 courts from Torbay to Conception Bay South.

Luke Harris, Technical Director for the NL Volleyball Association, says an event to this capacity takes a powerhouse of volunteers and planning.
He says everyone is coming together to welcome 2,000 spectators, 2,300 athletes, 350 coaches and 80 officials.
Harris says over the years, more and more athletes have been participating in the event, and the feedback has been great.
He credits a lot of behind-the-scenes help to get the tournament off the ground.
