A little bit of history was made over the weekend at St. Mark’s Anglican Church on Logy Bay Road. Reverend Robert Cooke presided over the first church-sanctioned same-sex marriage.
The diocese only passed the marriage equality motion at a special synod late last month with 88 per cent of people voting in favour.
The Western Diocese of the Anglican Church in this province passed a similar motion in late August and the Central Diocese passed the marriage equality motion on Saturday.
Reverend Cooke declined comment about the ceremony as the couple asked to keep the matter private.
