Bear traps remain in place in the town of Fleur de Lys where a number of the large creatures have been spotted in recent days.
Conservation officers are monitoring the traps, but as of last evening, they remained empty.
Resident Laura Walsh told VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly last week that the animals are “terrorizing” the community.
She indicated she was scared to leave her home.
Sightings in the area should be reported to the local Forestry and Wildlife Office in Springdale by calling 673-3821.
