From Club Med, to Club Dead… the residents of Alderwood Estates – a seniors home in Witless Bay – are having a bit of fun this evening for Hallowe’een.
Rene Houlihan is the recreation director at Alderwood and says the residents look forward to hosting their annual haunted house in conjunction with the local Girl Guides. She says the residents themselves came up with the ideas, all with a finely-tuned and ghoulish sense of humour.
One resident, who will be 100 in February, is going to be a zombie grandmother. She’s even knitted a hat for her “baby.” She says the joke is on the guests and not on the residents who are having a laugh putting it off.
Houlihan says Dalton’s Caskets has supplied them with a couple of actual caskets for the evening, and Ryan’s Funeral Home is providing a hearse which will be parked outside with spooky music blasting.
The haunted house saw some 400 children came through the doors of Alderwood last year to take it all in.
Doors open at 6:30 this evening and donations are taken at the door.
