The mayor of Mount Pearl says the recent resignation of four top level city staff is not related to the leave of absence taken by city manager Steve Kent.
Since fall began the city’s Director of Corporate Services, Manager of Finance, Manager of Human Resources, and Procurement Clerk have all resigned from their positions.
This comes in the midst of public speculation surrounding the circumstances behind city manager and former mayor Steve Kent’s leave of absence.
Mayor Dave Aker says the resignations are not related to the Kent situation, and as far as he knows are not related to each other. He notes everyone has moved on to new employment.
Aker says two of the positions have already been filled, and he is confident the rest will be filled soon. He says the main issue now is dealing with the “loss of corporate memory” and getting everyone up to speed.
