Repairs are underway to restore the steeple of a church heavily damaged by fire earlier this month in Grand Falls-Windsor.
Fire crews found smoke and flames pouring from St. Matthew’s Presbyterian Church in the late hours of October 18. While there were no injuries, Fire Chief Vince MacKenzie described the damage as extensive.
Yesterday, the church posted that its steeple was removed to facilitate repairs. That action that is being applauded by members of the community, in preserving one of the town’s historic structures.
