The Opposition says government is using the roads budget for political purposes – especially in the district of Transportation and Works Minister Steve Crocker.
The Liberal Government has a five-year roads plan but Transportation Critic Barry Petten says they refuse to release the rankings. Petten questions government claims that roads are done purely according to non-political criteria.
Petten says road work in Steve Crocker’s district last year exceeded $9-million – almost five times the amount in the previous year and far more than other districts received.
Petten says the information shows that projects are being done based on politics and not priority.
