A little boy from Clarke’s Beach is following in the footsteps of his hero, raising money for cancer research.

Seven-year-old Ethan Smallwood dressed up like Terry Fox for Halloween last night and went door-to-door collecting donations for the cause.

Candace, Ethan’s mother, says he’s raised over $22,000 for the cause, and he collected another $700 while trick or treating last night. That well surpasses his initial goal of $250.

She says Ethan first came to her last year telling her he wanted to be Terry Fox for Halloween. They couldn’t pull it together quickly enough for last Halloween, but they started working on his costume over this summer to make it work.
