An NHL legend is in St. John’s today signing copies of his new book about another hockey legend.
Former Montreal Canadiens goaltender, Hall of Famer and six-time Stanley Cup Champion, Ken Dryden was signing copies of his new book “Scotty: A Hockey Life Like No Other” at Costco earlier today.
Scotty Bowman is recognized as the best coach in hockey history and one of the greatest coaches in all of sports, winning more Stanley Cups than anyone else, including five while coaching Dryden and the Montreal Canadiens.
Dryden has given his former coach a new test. In the book, Bowman talks about eight of the NHL’s greatest teams, and imagining himself as coach, detailing their weaknesses and not just their strengths.
Dryden says everyone who is deemed great after they retire, aren’t always great, and Bowman doesn’t hold back.
He says Rocket Richard didn’t score every game, Gordie Howe was lousy certain nights, and Bobby Orr wasn’t always good. Bowman looks at when those nights happened, how they happened, and how he would coach them and minimize the bad nights.
Cannot thank Mr. Ken Dryden enough for that lengthy piece
We talk in-depth about his relationship with Scotty Bowman, what makes Bowman the greatest coach in history, his 6 Stanley Cups, having his jersey retired, the Hall of Fame and much more!
Catch it Monday night at 6! https://t.co/LT7CkiKKeg
