A journalist known to many in this province says it’s wrong to blame Daylight Saving Time on farmers.
James Macleod worked for years with the Telegram and now writes for the Financial Post. He’s an advocate of Daylight Saving Time, and has written extensively on the topic.
He told the VOCM Morning Show that farmers are often blamed for Daylight Saving Time, but that simply isn’t true.
He says it all stems from William Willett who was living in London at the turn of the last century. Willett was a big proponent of what was known as British Summer Time.
Macleod says Willett came up the with way of incrementally shifting clocks to make the most of daylight hours.
Sadly, Willett did not live to see Daylight Saving Time officially implemented.
Not every province recognizes Daylight Saving Time. The clocks never change in Saskatchewan, while British Columbia is also hoping to pass new legislation eliminating seasonal time changes.
