Choices for Youth says an extensive independent investigation into allegations of misconduct made against a “senior member of their team” found the allegations to be “completely unfounded and untrue.”
The Chair of Choices for Youth’s Board of Directors, issued a letter to partners and stakeholders last week indicating that they are satisfied given the extent of the investigation that the issue was addressed appropriately.
Lynn Zurel indicates that they are relieved, and are in the process of reinstating the staff member.
She says the independent investigator, lawyer Gerlinde van Driel, addressed all issues that were raised in an anonymous letter issued earlier this year. The investigation did allow for what Zurel says was an opportunity for some learning and reflection that will help them going forward.
The Board of Directors will also be ensuring that there is a management plan in place that addresses the most common issues raise, including Policies and Procedures, Human Resources and Management Communications.
