Councillor Hope Jameson says the announcement that Iceberg Alley may be moving to Mount Pearl is “disappointing”, though she still hopes something can be worked out.

Yesterday John Steele announced the move from the capital city saying that he can no longer wait for the City to make decisions.

They are hoping to secure a three-year deal on a site to be able to book large performances well in advance.

Councillor Hope Jameson says the music festival brings a vibrancy to St. John’s, but the City had received several complaints and even a petition from neighbouring residents, which they were hoping to resolve.

She was hoping to find a balance between the needs of the City and Festival and the needs of local residents, which include many seniors and families, affected by the noise level.

Jameson had suggested the organizers reach out to the residents to address the concerns, which she feels was not an unreasonable request. She says despite yesterday’s announcement she reaching out to Mr. Steele in the hopes a solution can be reached.
