Although they have no representation in the House of Assembly, the NL Alliance is calling on political leaders to allow for free votes on issues raised.
The NL Alliance says a free vote on all issues brought before the House should be allowed, rather than forcing members to vote along party lines.
Leader Graydon Pelley says he believes every MHA should have an independent voice and be allowed to vote within their conscience and the needs of their constituents, without fear of reprisal.
Much like prior to the provincial election, Pelley says the House of Assembly needs to move away from partisan way of governing and put the needs of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians at the forefront.
Pelley says the minority government is a prime opportunity to show the people of the province that much more can be accomplished in the legislature when all members contribute, no matter their position or party.
He says those are the principles the NL Alliance was founded on, and what they’ll continue to advocate for.
