They say you should be satisfied if the kids get past Halloween without a snowsuit on, but nevertheless drivers were chagrined to see whiteout conditions on the west coast today.
Some areas of the island are saying hello to winter today and tomorrow. Photos posted to social media this morning already show snow-swept road on route 430 near Cow Head.

Parts of the west coast, the Northern Peninsula and the northeast coast are in for about 10-15 cm of snow but that could be more in higher terrain.
Jill Maepea, a meteorologist with the Gander Weather Office, says high winds will compound the situation in some areas. She says some areas could receive as much as 30 cm.
In the east, high winds are the story. The winds will blow hard today but ease somewhat tonight, then increase again tomorrow and tomorrow night.
