A newly-established fisheries union has extended its final countdown for membership.
FISH-NL had planned to end its drive today to convince inshore harvesters to sign up with them, but president Ryan Cleary says they’re going for an additional 90 days.
The union which currently represents the harvesters, the FFAW, calls the extension another desperate attempt to find sufficient support from harvesters.
Further, FFAW president Keith Sullivan says harvesters have told them they’re concerned that their name has been fraudulently signed to a FISH-NL membership card.
They have also heard from people with no connection to the fishery about receiving robocalls from FISH-NL.
