Nalcor’s Vice President of Transmission and Community Affairs at Churchill Falls, Walter Parsons says it was a scary incident.
The warnings have been repeated for years, but a Nalcor employee recently suffered a shock after someone broke into a power yard near Churchill Falls and stole the copper grounding wire.
Parsons says the worker was temporarily immobilized, but was eventually able to climb down from the tower where he was working. The man was checked out and fortunately returned to work later that day after only minor injuries.
The incident occurred October 10. Nalcor says removing copper wire from electrical sites puts everyone in jeopardy.
