The Mayor of Hermitage-Sandyville on the province’s south coast says he’s tired of what he calls “lies” being spread about the aquaculture industry.
Steve Crewe cites one case involving suggestions that diving equipment used by those involved in the salmon clean-up in Fortune Bay had to be discarded because chemicals had eaten through the wet suits.
That, he says, is categorically untrue.
He says they were discarded because of the smell, having been immersed among dead fish for weeks.
