Firefighters saved a home in Goulds from significant damage last evening.
At about 9:30 p.m. fire crews with Goulds Volunteer Fire Department and St. John’s Regional responded to a home on Forest Pond Road. When they arrived they found smoke coming from the rear of the house.
Firefighters had to cut into the roof and an exterior wall to extinguish the flames, which had crept up the wall of the house to the roof. The outside wall of the home suffered considerable fire damage, but crews were able to stop the fire from spreading beyond the immediate area.
There were no injuries reported but several people were displaced. All residents of the home were outside when crews first arrived.
