RCMP in Central Newfoundland are now reviewing surveillance video from seven locations where poppy trays were stolen.
According to the President of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 12, in Grand Falls-Windsor, the donation trays were stolen from local businesses leading up to Remembrance Day.
Dan Devine said, “It’s disappointing that anyone would do that to our veterans.”
Devine says every year the poppy campaign in central raises anywhere from $12,000 to $15,000. He estimates the loss due to the thefts could be as much as $500.

“These people put their lives on the line so many times… It’s shocking,” Devine told VOCM News.
