An 18-year-old man from Corner Brook is in trouble with the law following a crime spree last night that included an armed robbery, theft of a car, a police chase and assaulting an officer.
It all started just before 9:30 when the RNC responded to a report of man trying to steal an ATV. While investigating that call, police determined that a break and enter had occurred at a nearby house.
Just over an hour later, police were called to an armed robbery on Country Road. The suspect took off with an undisclosed amount of money and when confronted by police, he allegedly assaulted the officer, and fled on foot. The officer sustained minor injuries, and was treated and released from hospital.
The crime spree was far from over. The RNC also allege the accused had stolen a car in the area of the attempted theft. The young man is also facing a charge of breaking into a shed.
It’s not his first brush with the law. The accused was wanted on an outstanding warrant as well as a charge of failing to appear in court.
Once apprehended, he was held for court.
