A man from Placentia Bay who’s lived his life in and out of prison has learned you can’t turn your life around until you’re ready.
Raymond Coffey told his story on VOCM Open Line with Linda Swain yesterday.
His first stint in prison was when he was only 16 years old. Coffey says his drug of choice was alcohol and it wasn’t until he hit his 40s that he realized something had to change.
He says he’s done things he’s not proud of. Ten years ago he woke up in prison and decided that he needed to change, and set out to do so.
Coffey says he attended various programs, but it wasn’t until he decided he was ready that he made significant changes in his life. He says he simply got sick and tired of being sick and tired.
With some minor setbacks, Coffey has been clean and sober for ten years.
