Fans of folk music will have to plan a bit earlier on the calendar for next year’s NL Folk Festival in Bannerman Park.
The NL Folk Arts Society board has decided to push the date of the Folk Festival to the weekend of July 10 instead of early August.
According to the announcement made in Friday’s newsletter, the move is to avoid potential conflicts with the Royal St. John’s Regatta.
The @NLFolkFestival board has voted to change the dates of the festival in 2020.
The festival will run July 10-12th in Bannerman Park.

Executive Director Erin Whitney says should the Regatta be delayed, it risks forcing the Folk Festival to lose its Friday session, if not more, due to the significant resources both events require.
While it has been some time since the Regatta was delayed, the Folk Festival has grown to such a size that the organizers say it requires precise timing to pull off.
July 10 to the 12 was decided to be the next best date.
