Families who have been affected by road crashes gathered with officials at RNC Headquarters Friday to share their stories and to remind drivers that safely is the most important thing to consider when getting behind the wheel.
Suzanne and Gary Jacobs lost their daughter, Caitlyn in a head on collision in 2017.
Suzanne says that when you get behind the wheel you have a responsibility. She says it’s not just the lives of those who are in the vehicle with you. It is the pedestrians and other people driving on the road that you also need to consider.
Minister of Service NL, Sherry Gambin Walsh say the government is working to reduce collisions in the province. She says that Bill 5, the Highway Traffic Act was just amended to include the use of cameras
She says that the cameras will be used in school zones, construction zones and places where speeding is a major issue like the veterans & outer ring road.
