SJRFD Platoon Chief, Paul Chaytor says that smoke and fire were visible from the home upon arrival. When crews entered they found fire in several different locations.
The fire department had to deploy aerial equipment to get to the roof of the house, which is surrounded by mature trees.
Pennywell Road was closed between Cashin Ave and Kitchener Ave as emergency crews worked.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
