The official Opposition is accusing the premier of being indifferent to the wastewater fears of municipalities.
Municipal Affairs critic Chris Tibbs says he’s appalled that Premier Dwight Ball dismissed the fears of municipal leaders and volunteers, who fear they could be personally prosecuted and sent to jail for failing to meet new federal wastewater regulations.
Tibbs was responding to Premier Ball’s contention in the House of Assembly that “not one leader” in the province raised with him this week the fear of going to jail.
Outgoing MNL President Tony Keats indicated on VOCM Open Line this week that the new federal wastewater regulations remain the most pressing issue facing muncipalities in the province.
Keats says the pressure is “overwhelming.”
Tibbs accused the Premier of not listening to municipal leaders and not bringing their concerns to Ottawa.
