A St. John’s teenager almost had the book thrown at him after being arrested for a crime spree in Corner Brook.
Friday evening RNC officers responded to an east-end call in Corner Brook that a man was in a shed attempting to steal an ATV. A break-in had occurred shortly before just a few houses away, and police suspected it was the same man.
But while they were investigating the call came that there was a armed robbery happening at a Country Road business, in which the same man got away with cash. A patrol officer chased and attempted to arrest the suspect, but the man was able to get away after attacking the officer, who received minor injuries.
Police also discovered that he had stolen a car from the original break-and-entry to get to the site of the robbery.
Finally at 2:00 a.m. the 18-year-old suspect was arrested in the Townsite area and slapped with a raft of charges including trespassing, armed robbery, assault of an officer, driving while prohibited, and theft over $5,000 as well as failing to appear for court.
He was remanded to custody.
