The City of St. John’s has kicked off its annual food drive in support of the Community Food Sharing Association.
In previous years the city has collected items for the drive at the door on garbage day. However, due to the increased availability of drop off bins and declining participation, the city will now only be accepting donations at city facilities.
As well, the city has made a $15,000 donation to the association to begin the drive.
Non-perishable food items are being collected at city hall, and a number of city owned community centres.
The food drive runs until November 29th.
Donations can be made at the following centres: H.G.R. Mews, Paul Reynolds, Kenmount Terrace, Southlands, Kilbride and Shea Heights.
