Most people are familiar with blue zone parking, but the RNC has adopted orange zones to allow people buying and selling items online to exchange goods and money in a safe and secure manner.
The new orange zones take up two parking spaces in well-lit, high traffic locations near RNC offices in St. John’s Mount Pearl, CBS, Corner Brook and Labrador West.
Constable James Cadigan says the Safe Exchange Zones are similar to those in other jurisdictions for those who make online purchases, but aren’t comfortable meeting strangers to exchange goods or money.
He says there are also CCTV cameras in place and it allows people the time to ensure that what they’re getting is what they purchased and that the monetary value agreed to is what it’s supposed to be.
The Safe Exchange Zones will be officially launched in the next week or so.
