The PC Party abruptly stood up and stormed out of the House of Assembly during debate Thursday evening after comments from Finance Minister, Tom Osborne.
Osborne was discussing an MQO poll on leadership preference while remarks were tossed back and forth across the House.
PC Kevin Parsons rose to repeat a comment that he wouldn’t follow Osborne back and forth across the floor, and that Parsons will stay where he is – a jab at Osborne for crossing the floor from the PCs to the Liberals.
Osborne then made a comment about Parsons’ divorce, that didn’t sit well with the PC Party.
Speaker Scott Reid shortly after called for order amid shouting from the opposition, reminding the members that temperament language should be used in the House.
Parsons fired back that the comment was uncalled for, and disgusting.
The PCs then got up and walked out of the House, with Barry Petten telling Speaker, Scott Reid to get some control.
They called for an apology, and Osborne did stand to apologize.
Osborne says he doesn’t make personal attacks, and if Parsons felt it was a personal attack, he apologizes as it wasn’t meant to be that. He apologized to all members of the opposition if they took offence to his comments.
