Newfoundlanders and Labradorians really came through at the One Night Stand Against Cancer radiothon, raising over $119,000 for Daffodil Place.
It’s one of the biggest fundraisers of the year for the facility. VOCM’s Greg Smith was in residence at Daffodil Place for 24 hours. Director Al Pelley says says they far surpassed their goals.

There were several large donations, including $25,000 from NAPE and $20,000 from the Carpenters Union Local 579.
The Automobile Dealers Association came in this morning with a cheque for $20,000. The association’s Frank Howard says donating was just a no-brainer for their dealers across the province.
The cost of providing services at Daffodil Place is $700,000 dollars a year, with no government funding provided. Last year the radiothon raised around $104,000.
