The Department of Municipal Affairs and Environment says it has not issued a stop work order at Ragged Beach in Witless Bay.
An outspoken critic of work being conducted in the area of Ragged Beach indicated that it appeared the department had issued a stop work order at the site.
Area residents are concerned with what officials say is erosion control work being carried out in the area.
Residents believe it’s part of plans to develop the area, which includes a portion of the popular East Coast Trail.
