It’s been a long time coming, but members of the Knights of Columbus and the board of the St. Paul’s Field Committee are celebrating the opening of their outdoor track and field facility.
Derek Staubitzer, co-chair of the field board, says the space behind St. Paul’s Junior High was unsafe, but had a lot of potential.
When someone came forward almost ten years ago, they didn’t know how much work it would take to get it open.
Staubitzer says the field is not just for school-aged students. He says they now have a great field for people to come and get active in a safe and productive way.
The track’s surface will be placed next summer, after which it will be good to use for track and field participants to practice.
It’s officially open!
The field will support athletes of track and field, soccer, frisbee and more. The committee says it is not just for the students – it is a community facility. @VOCMNEWS pic.twitter.com/o596peBlxx
