The island got its first quick taste of winter yesterday, albeit not as much as what was forecasted.
Environment Canada Meteorologist, Juliana Paul, says recorded snowfall in St. John’s was around 5 centimetres. In Gander the amount was 19 cm.
She says most areas saw less than what actually fell.
She says they believe some of that snow compacted because it was wet and as it was falling, it was melting.
